Schools complain of shoddy roads

GHMC leaves dug-up roads in poor state
Hyderabad: The digging up of roads near schools followed by tardy repair work is a recipe for disaster, residents say. The management of International School located on the Tolichowki main road has been complaining about roads dug up near the institute for over three months with almost all government departments but to no avail.
The road is dug up near the entrance of the school. There is also a hospital nearby.
The main road is a high-traffic density area and prone to accidents and the digging work has become a source of worry for the parents.
The GHMC and the roads and buildings department have merely shifted responsibility on each other, without repairing the road. “For the pipeline work, the nearest bus shelter was uprooted. Now, all RTC buses stop near the school, making it risky for kids. The RTC too hasn’t responded to our pleas,” said a member of school management.
Apart from this, construction debris is left beside the school and garbage is dumped, he said. Not just the school, the diabetic hospital management too has approached the corporation and R&B for redressal but in vain.
“The works are taken up without notice. We parked our school buses and woke up to see that the road has been dug up the next day. We had a tough time taking out the buses,” he said.
In Filmnagar, the roads have been dug up in a school and and hospital zone. The pace of works is slow, citizens said.
