As many as 10,01,325 voters are on the electoral rolls

PATHANAMTHITTA: Both LDF and UDF as well as BJP exuded confidence as Pathanamthitta goes to polls in the final phase of local body elections on Thursday with as many as 1,042 representatives to be elected.
There are 16 divisions in district panchayat, 106 block panchayats, 788 grama panchayats and 132 municipal wards in the district. As many as 10,01,325 voters are on the electoral rolls.
The UDF is striving hard to maintain its upper hand by projecting its achievements in the local bodies and also by projecting LDF’s ‘violent politics’ and BJP’s ‘communal politics’.
On its part, LDF campaign has been targeting UDF’s “widespread corruption”. Aranmula environmental issues and the fall in rubber price in plantation sector in Pathanamthitta are the regional topics raised by LDF. However, the SNDP – BJP tieup is also expected to make an impact on the results. The local body segments in Pathanamthitta district include Tiruvalla, Ranni, Aranmula, Adoor, and Konni.
