DGCA restores User Development Fee at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) had scrapped the UDF from April 1, 2014
Hyderabad: Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has restored the User Development Fee at the GMR-led Rajiv Gandhi International Airport following a High Court order. Though the DGCA restored the UDF with effect from November 3, GMR officials said they would come out with guidelines in a day or two. The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) had scrapped the UDF from April 1, 2014. The GMR group moved the High Court which overturned the airport regulator’s order.
“In pursuance to the order of the High Court at Hyderabad, regarding the collection of tariff/airport charges at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Hyderabad, the UDF can be levied at RGIA, Shamshabad at the rate of '430 per embarking domestic passenger (exclusive of service tax) and at the rate of Rs 1,700 per embarking international passenger (exclusive of service tax) with effect from November 3. All other tariff/charges prevailing prior to AERA dated 24-02-2014 shall remain unchanged,” the DGCA notification issued said.
