Is Kabali inspired from Liam Neeson’s Taken?
Rajinikanth would be seen as an ageing gangster
Ever since actor Rajinikanth’s Kabali was announced, there has been lot of buzz — be it the superstar’s looks, heroine or the plot of the film surrounding the project. Finally, Rajinikanth’s first look was revealed and we came to know that he would be seen as an ageing gangster named Kabali. Radhika Apte and Dhanshika were signed on as his pair and daughter respectively.
The latter in a tomboyish character is said to be a drug addict in the film. Initially, it was Kabali’s first look poster, which was said to have copied from the Filipino movie Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles. Now, with Kabali’s shooting on in Malaysia, and Rajinikanth getting a historical welcome from his fans, here is a tale which suggests that the movie’s plot is heavily inspired by the Liam Neeson actionthriller, Taken, which is set in France. Reportedly, in Kabali, Rajinikanth will not be seen running around trees, romantic song routines, etc. Word is that that he is portrayed as a once-powerful, now retired gangster who returns to his underworld activities because of his daughter’s kidnapping.
How he goes in search of his daughter, braving all odds, forms the crux of the movie. Liam’s Taken had a similar plot, where he essayed an ex-intelligence man who sets about tracking his daughter after she gets kidnapped by human traffickers. One may recall, Kamal Haasan’s forthcoming Diwali release Thoongavanam in Tamil and Cheekati Rajyam in Telugu is an adaptation of the French film Sleepless Nights. Interestingly, in Thoonga…. Kamal goes in search of his kidnapped son!
