Rigorous training for armed squad

For self-defence, the squad will fire at offenders and in a bike chase

Hyderabad: The Anti Chain Snatching squad of Cyberabad only had three weeks of weapons training session before deployment. But now, after the failed Vanasthalipuram firing, this special armed squad is going to get more rigorous training from specialists in the commissionerate.

For self-defence, the squad will fire at offenders and in a bike chase, they will fire at the vehicle tyre. “Dry fire practice drills” and “live fire exercises” in their training session will equip the squads to beat fast-moving snatchers on city roads. The team will use high speed private bikes and get assistance from mechanics to increase the speed of the bike, senior officials said.

The Cyberabad police will be more aggressive towards chain-snatchers in future. Commissioner of police C.V. Anand said that only stringent measures will curb these daylight robbers and police will not adopt a laid-back approach towards such offences. “We are going to treat these snatchers like Maoists and terrorists since they terrorise our women in full public view,” he said.
