Pulses out of reach? Grab this Diwali offer
Grain Merchants Association of Mysuru have come with a Diwali offer
Mysuru: At the time when rate of pulses have more than doubled, Grain Merchants Association of Mysuru have come with a Diwali offer.
They plan to give two kg of Tur dal, one kg each Urad dal, Bengal gram and Moong dal to each family at a discounted rate during Diwali. The merchants have come up with the decision following a meeting with District in-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad.
In a letter to the district administration, the merchants have stated that they did not want to embarrass the Chief Minister in his hometown and hence the offer. They have decided to reduce the rate of Tur dal by Rs 32, rates of Urad dal and Bengal gram by Rs 10 each, and Moong dal by Rs 8.
Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha said, “We have decided to permit it after checking the quality of the dal for which discount is offered,” she said. Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies K Rameswarappa said “We want the rates to reduce drastically with the existing stock of pulses. “We do not want to encourage this kind of discounts. This is only a proposal,” he said.
