Nisham trial: Prosecution bid to put defence in a fix

After local body elections, cross-examination of Baby will continue on Friday
Thrissur: After completion of the cross-examination of the third witness in the Chandrabose Murder case, the prosecution will be examining any of the prosecution witnesses from eight to 12.
“The cross-examination by the defence of third witness Baby (who was the security guard at the gate of Sobha City during the wee hours on January 29 when beedi tycoon Mohammed Nisham allegedly rammed his car on Chandrabose inflicting fatal injuries) is not yet complete. As a part of our strategy, when the defence asked us during the trial on Tuesday that whom the prosecution will be examining next, I told them that we will be examining any of the witnesses starting from eight to 12 and they include Amal, Nisham’s wife, and widow of Chandrabose, Jamanthi,” Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Udayabhanu told DC.
Though the speculation is rife that some of the witnesses to be examined would defect, SPP told DC that witnesses four to seven would definitely be examined later and the change made in the order of examination of witnesses was to put the defence in a fix.
A doctor, who is an eyewitness of Nisham brutally assaulting the victim, is one of the witnesses included in the list of eight to 12.
After local body elections, cross-examination of Baby will continue on Friday. By far, Baby has stood firmly by the prosecution during the cross-examination.
