DMDK’s choice of poll alliance remains a secret
Chennai: Despite an open invitation from People’s Welfare Allaince, DMDK continues to keep its cards close to its chest when it comes to forging of an alliance for the ensuing Assembly polls in 2016.
According to a senior DMDK leader, any decision on joining alliance would be taken close to the elections. “Our party leader will decide on the alliance. Elections are still six months away and it is too early to talk about the alliance. Our leader will decide about it at the appropriate time,” he said. He was responding to PWA coordinator and MDMK general secretary Vaiko who had given an open call for DMDK to join PWA.
Even as political parties, including AIADMK, DMK, PMK and PWA front, have started preparing for the Assembly elections, DMDK is still busy holding its state-wide celebration of its founder Vijayakanth’s birthday by distributing welfare measures.
“Right now our focus is on completion of the state-wide meeting of Makkulukaga Makkal Pani (Service for the sake of people), a programme to distribute welfare measure to the poor. We have covered 25 districts so far. It will come to an end in Chennai on November 21,” the leader said.
