Bengaluru: Driver flies into rage as traffic police battle rain

He was for misbehaving with cops and obstructing them from discharging their duties

BENGALURU: “How dare you stop me for jumping the signal? You cops get your salary from the tax I pay, and you have no right to make me wait for five hours on the traffic signal. You are doing a terrible job,” was how a driver flew into a rage at the Sony World Signal at Koramangala after heavy rains flooded streets across the city late on Monday night.

Imran (33), a resident of Eijipura and a supervisor at a private company, was booked by the Koramangala police under Sections 332, 353, 504 of the IPC for misbehaving with cops and obstructing them from discharging their duties. DCP East (traffic) C.K. Baba too was present at the spot managing heavy traffic when the incident occurred around 9 pm. Mr Baba tried to reason with Imran, but he misbehaved with the senior officer too and refused to cooperate.

Mr Baba told Deccan Chronicle, “The Sony World Signal was heavily waterlogged after a heavy downpour. We immediately dispatched a team of officers to the spot as the traffic was affected. This rider jumped the signal and the traffic turned even more chaotic. I immediately ordered my officers to stop him and when we questioned him, he misbehaved with us. He is from Jammu and Kashmir and works in J.P .Nagar. He was taken to the Koramangala police station, where a complaint was registered against him. His car (KA04 ML 3156) too has been seized.”
