Three Naxals held in Andhra Pradesh
Raipur: Three Naxals, allegedly involved in fatal attacks on security personnel, were arrested from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.
The cadres were nabbed from their native village Lankapalli under Chintur police station area by a joint team of security forces last evening, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI.
The area is about 600 km south of the capital Raipur, closer to Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a team of police from Maraiguda police station of Sukma and CRPF had launched an operation with the assistance of Chintur police and raided the place, the ASP said.
After surrounding the village, the rebels identified as Padam Kosa (25), Podiyami Somadu (28) and Vanjam Hirma (40) were rounded up, the officer said adding subsequently they were brought to Maraiguda.
They were allegedly involved in recent incidents of digging of roads and fatal attacks on security personnel during their patrolling in Sukma, he added.
