Tattooing your eyeballs is the latest body modification trend
Thinking about getting inked? Would you try getting your eyeballs tattooed then? Nope, we aren’t kidding. Eyeball tattoos are actually a thing and judging by the look of things, they are even getting increasingly popular.
The unusual body modification trend first started when a tattoo artist, Luna Cobra, began experimenting with syringes to replicate the look of the characters from the film Dune, according to the BBC. There’s even a Facebook page that goes by the name, Eyeball Tattoos, that boasts of nearly 16,000 likes.
Curious about how it is done? The permanent procedure requires several injections so that the desired colour dye rests on the eye’s top layer called the conjunctiva. But we must warn you that the invasive technique can also be highly dangerous. Jamaican dance hall artist Mace almost lost his vision when he was trying to blacken his eyeballs, according to a report in Noisey.
