Award-winning film 'Angry Indian Goddesses' gets star studded premiere at MAMI festival

Mumbai: Indian filmmaker Pan Nalin's female buddy movie ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’, that bagged the BNL People's Choice Award at the 10th Rome Film Festival, premiered at the ongoing MAMI film festival in Mumbai on Tuesday. The film has been described as a fresh and unbridled portrayal of women in India today was presented to a selected audience. Some of the celebrities on the guest list included Kalki Koechlin, Kiran Rao, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Anupama Chopra and Sapna Bhavnani to name a few.

The film that stars Sandhya Mridul, Sarah-Jane Dias, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Amrit Maghera, Rajashri Deshpande and Pavleen Gujral got an eight-minute standing ovation at its Rome premiere last month. It was no different last evening, as the celebrity guests soon took to their social media accounts to sing praises of the film and its lead actresses.
‘Angry Indian Goddesses’ tells the story of Frieda, a strong-willed fashion photographer who summons her friends to Goa, where she surprises them by revealing her plans to get married. As the holiday turns into a raucous bachelorette party, the women share secrets, fight and ultimately bond. The movie also bagged the runners-up Grolsch Peoples Choice award at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival.
At the festival Kiran Rao told reporters that hubby Aamir Khan has been keeping a watchful eye on the festival and said that he was very happy with its growing response.
