Jacob thomas asked to explain comments again
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has sought a second explanation from IPS officer Jacob Thomas for his public statements following the Vigilance court order in the bar bribery case.
Chief secretary Jiji Thomson issued the notice on Saturday. The government also denied permission to Jacob Thomas to hold a press conference.
The Cabinet on October 21 decided to seek an explanation from Jacob Thomas for his remarks pertaining to the transfer from Kerala fire and rescue services allegedly following pressure from the builders’ lobby. He was yet to give a reply to that. Fifteen days is the normal time given to reply.
“The fresh notice was issued as his public remarks on the bar bribery case were damaging to the government. Permission was denied for his request to hold a press conference as the government felt that it was unwanted,” said Mr Thomson.
Jacob Thomas sought permission to hold a press conference after the Chief Minister openly flayed him with regard to his removal from fire Services.
