Hussainsagar lake police clueless about tourist who allegedly jumped into the water

Expert swimmers and Fire personnel were immediately pressed into service, but in vain

Hyderabad: Lake Police are still clueless about the tourist who had allegedly fallen from the Khairunnisa boat in Hussainsagar on Sunday and drowned. Rescue teams haven’t been able to trace the drowned person nor have the cops got any details of the person.

“Our teams are still on the job to locate the drowned person. But we could not get any clue about his identity,” said Lake Inspector K Sreedevi. On Sunday at around 3.30 pm, a girl standing near the Buddha statue noticed a tourist falling in the lake and alerted the police.

Expert swimmers and Fire personnel were immediately pressed into service, but in vain. Those on the boat also could not confirm the incident. There were nearly 90 passengers on the boat, which has a seating capacity of 100.

However, there have been no reports of any tourist missing from around Hussainsagar. Sources said the police is trying to establish if the person had really jumped into the lake and is investigating the case.
