Governor tells police to brace up for cyber threats
Hyderabad: “Cyber terrorism is one of the biggest threats that the nation is facing today and every officer should equip himself with the latest technology and make positive use of it for the safety of the nation and its people.
The safety of the society not only lies in the hands of the armed forces, but also with the citizens,” said the Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan addressing the passing out parade of 492 trainee SIs at the RBVVR Telangana State Police Academy.
393 Civil SIs and 99 AR and TSSP SIs were commissioned during the passing out parade held here on Monday. Telangana DGP, Mr Anurag Sharma said that cops should keep a close watch on social media to curb increasing hate crimes.
“Unlike earlier, where society saw lathi wielding cops, the present generation is seeing a changed cop due to friendly policing activities. At the same time, with the technology advancing, crime is also taking a new dimension. Criminals are becoming more sophisticated. By making positive use of technology, the police force should move ahead,” the DGP said.
“There will be distraction from all sides, but you should be focussed and move straight ahead. At the same time remember that you are not only accountable to your superiors, but more to society and the citizens,” the Governor said.
The Governor also said that society also has the responsibility to keep the country safe. Every family member of a cop has only one word on their tongues, “Oh jaane wale, ho sake to laut ke aana”. Working in such critical conditions, the good work done by cops should be appreciated. Cops should not run away from responsibilities and should remember that they are fighting with their own people.
“Force should be the last option while handling agitations. Such situations should be handled by talking to people and convincing them. Humans should be treated as humans,” added the Governor.
