BJP to oppose move to drop probe against Elamaram Kareem

BJP calls move an instance of ‘deal politics’
Thrissur: The BJP is exploring legal options to counter the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau’s move to give a clean chit to CPM state secretariat member Elamaram Kareem in the Rs 5-crore Chakkittapara iron ore mining case, party state president V. Muraleedharan has said.
“The move to drop the bribery case is another instance of the ‘deal politics’ going on in the state for some time between the UDF and LDF. I have asked the lawyers to look into the matter and the party will soon take a decision,” he told reporters here on Monday.
Mr Muraleedharan said the BJP would make history in the local body poll in Kerala this time.
On SNDP general secretary Vellappally Nate-san’s view that the alliance with the BJP had not worked out effectively due to a lack of proper coordination, he said according to his knowledge, the tie-up had worked out well.
“Beef is now not a political issue in Kerala and the controversy over it in the state is uncalled for,” he said, adding that all senior leaders like K. Raman Pillai and P.P. Mu-kundan could return to the party if they wish so.
