Karimnagar: A 14-year girl committed suicide by setting herself ablaze after pouring kerosene over her body as she was allegedly unable to bear harassment of her teacher a government school, at Perukapalli village in Saidapur mandal, on Monday.
The deceased was Kodam Shravani, a Class IX student of a government model school at Somaram village in Saidapur mandal. She was younger daughter of her parents.
Saidapur police said that Shravani resorted to the drastic step following alleged harassment of one Sadiq, a physics teacher at the school, when her parents were away from their residence. She was absent for classes, stated Ramesh, head constable.
In a suicide note, purportedly written by her, she wanted the teacher be thrashed. She tendered her apology for opting to the extreme step. Her parents have two children, a daughter and a son. Based on a complaint from parents of the girl, police registered a case and took up investigations.
