Chhota Rajan's close aide arrested in Mumbai
Mumbai: Ahead of the deportation of Chhota Rajan who was nabbed in Bali last month, the underworld don's 'right-hand man' Nilesh Dinkar Paradkar alias Shatlya was on Tuesday arrested by Mumbai police.
Paradkar and another gangster Raghu Shetty, both associated with Rajan, had allegedly demanded Rs 15 crore from a suburban Bhandup-based Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) developer, police claimed.
In this connection, the Bhandup police arrested Shatlya on Tuesday, Mumbai's Joint Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti said.
Both Shetty and Rajan are wanted in connection with the extortion case, he said.
On September 5, Shatlya had allegedly made the extortion demand at the behest of Rajan. The money was demanded for a Wadala SRA project that the developer has taken up for construction, police said.
Shatlya was arrested and booked under sections 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and also sections 3 and 25 of Arms Act.
Shatlya is said to be the right-hand man of Rajan, who was arrested Bali on his arrival from Australia on October 25.
