Like master, like dog
Melbourne: Are you chubby? Then the chances are your puppy is chubby too as a recent study has revealed that fat people are more likely to have fat pooches.
University of Copenhagen's Peter Sande said that fat dog owners spoil their pets more often and are more likely to underestimate their dog's weight, News.com.au reported.
Overfeeding in companion animals is related to a form of attachment, where the animal is seen as an equal and deserves all the treats and indulgences an owner gives themselves, Sande noted.
Fat dog owners are also less likely to walk their furry friend to burn off the kilojoules from all those extra treats.
Vets say people feel guilted by those big brown eyes and offer food treats instead of other rewards like cuddles or walks and games.
