Actress borrowed insights from her own married life to portray onscreen marital discord in Balki’s Ki and Ka

For her upcoming film Ki and Ka where she plays Arjun Kapoor’s better half, Kareena Kapoor has heavily borrowed instances from her own marriage with Saif Ali Khan, to show trouble in the life of an urban couple.
Says a source, “This is the first time that she has delved into the not-so-rosy side of her marriage to bring alive a story on screen. The points of disagreement loom largely in the following areas — fights over chores such as who will throw the trash out, arguments over the reading lights being on for too long in the night, etc.”
While the Arjun-Kareena pairing may seem odd to the audience, director R. Balki insists it suits his film just right. Speaking of the seemingly unusual pair Balki says, “It may seem unusual from the outside. But to me it is what the film required. When I made my first film Cheeni Kum people wondered how I could cast Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu together.
They got the answer when they saw the film. Audiences will know why I cast Kareena and Arjun together after they see the film.”
