Video: Australia's Travis Dean smashes his way into record books
Mumbai: Australia’s Travis Dean registered his name in the record books after he scored twin tons and remained unbeaten in his debut game in the Sheffield Shield on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Club.
Dean’s feat is the first of its kind in the 123-year-old history of the tournament.
The Australian is not the first one to score two hundreds in his first game.
There were six other cricketers, including two Indians - Nari Contractor and Virag Awate, who have done so before.

According to cricket.com.au, "Dean's total of 263 runs is also the most by any batsmen on first-class debut, eclipsing the 261 runs Indika made for Police Sports Club against Seeduwa Raddoluwa in 2011."
"His total of 500 deliveries faced is the most by a Shield debutant, smashing David Dawson's mark of 445 for Tasmania in 2004-05," added the report.
Dean’s achievement is even more special as he remained on the field throughout 335.2 overs that were bowled in the match.

The record-maker had replaced Aaron Finch in the playing XI for Bushrangers. But Finch showed class as he applauded Dean's solid show with the bat.
Congratulations @travdean261 on his amazing debut for @bushrangers!! Plenty more hundreds to come!! #class

Finch's opening partner in ODIs, David Warner was also lauded Dean's effort.
