Will change face of Madiwala market: Manjunath Reddy
We are constructing a BBMP complex with amenities like parking lot, toilets and good shops, says Reddy
The BBMP had set November 1 as deadline to fill potholes. Yet, busy stretches like Madiwala Market Road are in a bad condition. Why?
Though we had proposed to fill potholes by now, the continuous rainfall in the last few weeks has hampered the schedule. We could not start the work as decided and in most of the places. We are not getting enough time to let the asphalt set in. The work is in progress and the condition should improve.
This applies to all important roads in the city. But why is the condition of Madiwala Market Road so bad?
The road has not been asphalted for the last five or six years. There is a plan to fully concretise it and there have been delays in starting the work. The state government has granted Rs 4.2 crore under Nagarottana funds and work has begun to repair the road.
Are there any plans to revive the market?
We are constructing a BBMP complex with amenities like parking lot, toilets and good shops for the benefit of the shopkeepers and customers. When operational, the experience of going to Madiwala Market will be completely different.
