Telugu Desam sees chance, asks BJP for seat
Hyderabad: The TS TD has decided to lay claim on the Warangal bypoll seat, rather than supporting its ally BJP, since it feels its choice Dommata Sambaiah is better placed to win the byelection than the candidates announced by the TRS, Congress and Left parties.
This was precisely the reason why the TD insisted and got the “coordination committee” meeting with the BJP scheduled for Saturday postponed.
“We have a strong candidate in Sambaiah for the Warangal bypoll. He is better placed than Devaiah, an NRI proposed by the BJP. We are talking with the BJP to leave the seat for the TD. A decision on this will be announced on Monday,” TD leader E. Dayakar Rao told this newspaper.
“We have been talking to BJP leaders and trying to convince them to accept our candidate. It’s likely that Sambaiah may be declared as the TD-BJP candidate tomorrow,” TS TD president L. Ramana said.
