Seized pulses to be e-auctioned soon
The state govt has decided to auction the pulses to help bring down the prices by Diwali
Bengaluru: After a series of raids and seizure of pulses, which was being illegally hoarded due to sky-rocketing prices, the state government has decided to auction the pulses to help bring down the prices by Diwali.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr Dinesh Gundurao said that the government would e-auction the confiscated pulses by November 6 and one of the auction conditions would be that the traders should release it in the market within three days.
So far, the department had conducted 1308 raids and confiscated 2.35 lakh quintals of pulses worth over Rs 353 crore. The department was coordinating with the APMC for e-tendering the confiscated pulses. While Tur Dal and Moong Dal would be auctioned by November 6, other pulses would be auctioned by November 9 so that it would be available in the market for Diwali at a reduced price, he said.
The government was taking precautions to ensure that no one questioned the tendering process. All the 34,000 registered traders can participate in the e-auction process and they have to release the pulses in the Karnataka market within three days, he said. After the raids started, the price of dal had come down by Rs 30 in the state. Some of the traders have come forward and promised to reduce the prices.
