Saradha scam: Madan Mitra ‘fit’ 24 hours after bail
Kolkata: Within 24 hours of getting bail in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, heavyweight Trinamool Congress minister Madan Mitra returned home in Bhowanipore from SSKM Hospital as “fit” on Sunday and claimed of winning the “match”.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee however refused to comment on his relief, describing it as “sub-judice”. Travelling in an ambulance with his family members, Mitra reached his 32B Shankhari Para residence in the afternoon.
He said, “We have won the match ultimately. It is the victory of truth, common people and dharma.” On the doctors’ fit certificate he explained that the physicians did what they found best.
Replying to the question about when he would resume working as a minister, Mitra however added, “It is not the right time to comment about it.”
Asked about her reaction to Mitra’s bail the chief minister said at the Kolkata airport, “Its a sub-judice matter. I will not comment on it.”
Earlier Mitra reportedly expressed his desire to spend few more days at cabin no 21 in VIP ward of Woodburn Block for total recovery from his illness.
On Sunday morning, the declared him “fit” for release from the hospital but prescribed him to visit the hospital for check-ups.
