NGO demands roof over Majestic skywalk

There have been numerous cases of pedestrians being killed while crossing the road
Bengaluru: Though there have been numerous cases of pedestrians being killed while crossing the road little is being done build foot over bridges at busy junctions in the city.
Last November, members of Praja RAAG, advocacy group, had written to BMTC to put a roof over the foot over bridge at Majestic BMTC interchange. To this the transport agency cited lack of funds as a reason for the delay in taking up the work. They had also requested the BMTC to extend the over bridge to Gandhinagar side and Bangalore railway station, but nothing has been done.
Sanjeev V Dyamannavar, member of Praja RAAG, said, “It has been nearly one year since we have requested a shelter for Majestic Foot Over Bridge at BMTC Bus stand and KBS. It is difficult for people to cross during rains. Which is why pedestrians often prefer to cross the roads. We have also asked them to see how this foot overbridge can be extended on both sides towards Majestic railway station and towards Gandhinagar at elevated level so that commuters will feel more comfortable climbing the FOB.” Ramalinga Reddy told Deccan Chronicle, “I have instructed the Managing Director of BMTC to prepare an estimate of the roof cover and they are working on it.”
