Pune-based start-up launches budget 'Elite' smartphone

The Swipe Elite bears an Indian mark on its hardware and software
Swipe Telecom, a Pune-based start-up, recently launched the Elite. In a market overflowing with Chinese phones, a desi company launching a budget device is a refreshing change. Taking the make in India sentiment forward, Swipe has developed its own ‘Freedom OS’ that runs on the Elite along with Android Lollipop. This OS offers a range of customisation options like built-in themes and gesture controls. For example, you can tweak your app preferences on the home screen, change the dial pad size for one hand use, or switch on the flashlight with one touch while the phone is unlocked. There is also a Swipe search engine, if you ever get bored of Google.
Pictures and videos look good on the 5-inch HD display of this smartphone. Designwise, the Swipe Elite is sleek and lightweight. It features a 2 mm plastic body with curved edges. This smart phone comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera which is a decent performer, as well as an 8 megapixels front camera.
The Elite is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM. The 2500 mAh battery provides good life to this device. This is a dual-SIM smart phone that offers 3G connectivity. It comes with a 16 GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB. Priced at Rs 5,999, the Swipe Elite is an ideal device if you are looking for a budget smartphone with impressive specs.
