Did Jemima plot Reham’s split with Imran?
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s ex-wife Jemima Khan may have been instrumental in abruptly ending the near 10-month marriage of the cricketer-turned politician with television anchor Reham Khan, close aides suggest.
Sources said Jemima Khan and her family played a key role through Imran Khan’s two sons Sulaiman Isa Khan and Qasim Khan in forcing their father to divorce Reham Khan.
The sources said Sulaiman Isa Khan and Qasim Khan were sent to Pakistan by their mother in August last year to upset the plans of their father to marry Reham Khan ostensibly by participating in PTI’s unprecedented protest sit-in in front of the Parliament House to force Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down for alleged rigging of the elections.
Still, Imran Khan and Reham Khan continued with their plans and eventually married thus sparking a turf war between the first and second wives, and their families. Jemima Khan is still a very good friend of Imran Khan.
The sources said Sulaiman Isa Khan and Qasim Khan revisited Bani Galla couple of months back when Reham Khan was left with no option but to move to a local five-star hotel with her own children.
“Those were the moments Reham Khan decided to seek divorce,” a source said. She drew her own parallels leading to an end of her relationship with Imran Khan.
According to her family sources in Hazara region, she would soon make the details of the end of her second love marriage.
The drop scene of Reham Khan’s love marriage is believed to have an adverse impact on political life of her ex-second husband especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where his party is in power.
Imran Khan’s divorce on Friday sparked a social media storm as it secured top ranking in Pakistan while second worldwide.
Some criticised Mr Khan for his egoistic attitude; some blamed both for not working hard to make the relationship work, while some pointed out a third factor, which ruined the love marriage.
Some tried to prove Reham Khan an agent of MI6.
