Sudharani joins TRS; Dayakar in bypoll fray

A few hours before this, the TDP suspended her from the party citing anti-party activities

Hyderabad: After dropping enough hints, Telugu Desam's Rajya Sabha member Gundu Sudharani finally joined the TRS in the presence of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday.

A few hours before this, the TDP suspended her from the party citing anti-party activities. Ms Sudharani and Warangal TRS leaders went to the Chief Minister’s camp office on Saturday evening and formally declared that she was joining the party. The CM admitted her into the party by offering a TRS kanduva.

However, like many other TDP, Congress, YSRC representatives who joined the TRS, Ms Sudharani too did not announce any intention to quit her MP post. She will continue as an MP till June 2016.

TDP’s Telangana disciplinary committee met at the party’s headquarters on Saturday and endorsed the resolution passed by the Warangal unit recommending su-spension of her from the party due to continuous anti-party activities. Disciplinary Committee Member and former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy announced her suspension from the party’s primary membership.

Meanwhile, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao handed over the party’s ‘B’ form to Musunuri Dayakar, the party nominee for the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll at the Telangana Bhavan, the headquarters of the TRS on Saturday. The Chief Minister said Mr Dayakar hail from a poor family and cannot afford to bear the massive election expenses. He said the election expenditure would be met from the TRS party funds.

He also said that from next year ‘Kalyana Laxmi’ programme would be extended to all eligible women from BC communities. He promised that there will be no power cuts in the state and assured uninterrupted power supply to every nook and corner of the state.
