VM Sudheeran spurns KM Mani over bar case

Mr Sudheeran assured that everything would be “handled at the appropriate time”

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has hinted again that he is unhappy with finance minister K. M. Mani clinging on to chair even after the vigilance court dismissed the closure report in the bar scam.

He had earlier hinted that he would reveal his feelings after the polls. Talking to reporters here on Saturday, he said political decorum had to be maintained but reserved his comments on the scam.

He assured that everything would be “handled at the appropriate time”. Sources close to him said, unlike Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and home minister Ramesh Chennithala, his stand was that the scam has dented the government’s image.

“Even though in private the Chief Minister and home minister are worried about the turn of events, they are helpless. Top leaders of Mani’s party would solve the issues within their party,” said a senior KPCC general secretary.

But another top Congress leader told Deccan Chronicle that KPCC executive and UDF meeting were likely to happen only in the third week of November.

After the counting of votes on Saturday, their next priority would be finalising heads of local bodies.

“Choosing panchayat presidents is going to be another daunting task before DCCs. So KPCC executive is not expected to be convened in the second week. UDF leaders can always hold talks over the phone,” said a KPCC leader.
