Ballari: A leopard, which had killed two people and was on the prowl for the last 20 days, was shot dead by a patrolling team near Sushilnagar in Sandur taluk of the district.
The 15-year-old leopard was spotted near a live bait on Friday afternoon but it managed to escape, a forest official said. The wait for the team yielded the desired result later when they shot the wild cat, Deputy Conservator of Forest, T. Ranawat said.
The leopard had killed two people in Sushilnagar in a fortnight. As the news of leopard’s death spread, panic-stricken people from Sushilnagar and surrounding villages, who were spending sleepless nights, were relieved.
