IMD forecasts more rains in south
Chennai: Heavy rains continued to lash parts of south India with the regional weather office in Chennai forecasting more rain for November 2.
Heavy rains have been observed at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in the last 24 hours starting 8.30 AM on Saturday, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a bulletin.
Rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep, coastal and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over Andhra Pradesh, the Regional Meteorological Centre said.
Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur over north interior Karnataka and Telangana, it added. Meanwhile, bright sunny skies in the morning here gave way to heavy rains by afternoon even as rains lashed various parts of Tamil Nadu.
Aranmanaipudur (Theni district), Karaikudi (Sivaganga), Kodaikanal (Dindigul) and Tiruchengode (Namakkal district) topped the list with 7 cm each, the regional weather office said quoting statistics availabale at 8.30 AM on Sunday. Many other parts of the state also received good spells of rain, it added.
