65 drug price violations tracked by durg officials in Telangana
Hyderabad: Sixty-five violations were detected in the sale of essential drugs by the Telangana State Drug Control Authority and cases have been booked against the violators.
The Essential Drug Price List has 348 medicines and all of these are to be sold for the price prescribed under the Drug Price Control Order.
A senior drug controller explained, “The order is available on the Internet. The DPCO has prescribed ceiling prices for the drugs which are used for hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, heart diseases, respiratory illness and other common illnesses which affect the people. To ensure that chemists follow the price control order properly, these checks were conducted and violations have been found for which the stocks have been seized.”
The Drug Control Authority has booked cases against both manufacturers and also distributors. Other states have also been informed to check on the prices of the drugs by these manufacturers so that the essential price list is followed in its true sense.
