Among the many birthday wishes that Shah Rukh Khan has been receiving on his fiftieth birthday, one is by thespian Kamal Haasan. An admirer of King Khan he says, “Shah Rukh probably knew where he was headed. He may not have known where he would end up, but he was willing to climb till he could no more. Shah Rukh has been humble from the beginning — a quality most successful people start working on only after it’s too late.”
Shah Rukh, also a fan of Haasan had agreed to play the role of a Pathan free of cost in the latter’s film Hey Ram. He flew down to be present at a party in Chennai in 2013, to celebrate Kamal Haasan’s career too.
“Shah Rukh is a true Pathan — a man of his words. I owe him a big favour,” says Haasan. Referring to the party he continues, “It was every celebrity bash’s worst nightmare, since the air conditioning at the hotel broke down. We were all left simmering in the heat — helpless, angry and bitter. Shah Rukh was formally dressed in a suit for the occasion, but look at this entertainer! He took off his coat, jumped on to the stage and danced. He was sweating so much, it looked like he had come out of the bath and forgotten to dry.”
SRK was apparently on the verge of dehydration, thanks to the jig. “But he didn’t care. He’s a born entertainer,” Haasan says adding, “Shah Rukh is an artiste at heart and I wish he stays that way. Wish you more success brother. More of all that you love in life.”
