UDF to face tough fight at Paroppadi
KOZHIKODE: The UDF is approaching voters without having a particular slogan to catch their attention at Paroppadi ward, where the Congress is fielding their Mayor candidate Advocate P M Suresh Babu.
Congress seems to be over confident about its prospects in the ward that has traditionally supported it. The UDF had a majority of 600 votes in this ward during the last local body election. However, Bhasi Malaparamba, a sports journalist is being fielded as an LDF independent at Paroppadi to wrest the seat from the UDF.
“We do not have a particular agenda while meeting our voters. There are no major issues in the ward except for a few road repair works and streetlight issues. Our goal is to bring in more public services and conveniences to the ward to better the lives of the people here,” P M Suresh Babu, who has already covered all the houses in the constituency, told DC.
Bhasi Malaparamba, who is a novice to elections and active politics, says he is doing what all candidates have been doing for elections. “I meet people and request them to vote for me. I assure them that if elected I would make this ward the best in the Corporation. The supremacy of Congress in the ward is surely going to end this time,” Bhasi Malaparamba told Deccan Chronicle.
The LDF is also playing the local resident card in favour of their candidate as Suresh Babu, who is a native of Vadakara, is staying now at Kottooli.
