Tur dal at Rs 135 per kg in Telangana
Hyderabad: Fine variety of tur dal will be available in Telangana state for Rs 135 per kg from Saturday onwards, much lower than the market price Rs 200. However, each household would get only one kg of the dal at this subsidised rate.
The TS Dal Millers and Traders Federation agreed to sell Grade-I variety of tur dal at this price by setting up special counters in each of the mandal headquarters across the state, including GHMC limits.
These counters would also be opened at all the mills. The traders had earlier proposed to sell Grade-I variety of tur dal at Rs 165 per kg and Grade-II variety at Rs 135 per kg. Civil supplies minister Etela Rajender convened a meeting with representatives of dal mills and traders at the Secretariat on Friday to discuss measures to be taken to contain tur dal price rise which crossed the Rs 200 per kg mark last week.
He urged the millers and traders to cooperate with the government in making tur dal affordable for the common man. “These special counters will function till the stocks last. A buyer has to produce any identity card to claim the benefit,” N. Madhusudhan, convener of the federation.
Thanking the federation, Mr Rajender said the government will also open special counters at all the Rythu Bazaars across the state to supply tur dal at subsidised rates. “Initially, 10 counters will be opened in Hyderabad, the first one on Saturday,” he said.
