Shashi Tharoor writes to Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Bengaluru flight

It would also result in fare hike by private airlines operating in the sector

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has urged the centre to restore Air India’s direct flight between Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru which was withdrawn from October 26 as part of the national career’s winter schedule.

In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju, the MP pointed out that the withdrawal of the flight would adversely affect thousands of people from the state working in Bengaluru in sectors like IT. It would also result in fare hike by private airlines operating in the sector.

Ports Minister K Babu had earlier written to Air India top officials demanding restoration of the flight.

Passengers had also staged protest against the decision alleging it was part of a hidden agenda to help private airlines.
