Sarvagnanagar MLA K J George is Bengaluru Development Minister

George will be in charge of BBMP, BDA, BMRDA, town planning and BWSSB

Bengaluru: Sarvagnanagar MLA K.J. George may have lost a heavyweight portfolio — home — but managed to get another prized one, Bengaluru Development beating off stiff competition from none other than KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar.

According to a notification, Mr George will be Bengaluru Development Minister in charge of BBMP, BDA, BMRDA, town planning and BWSSB. Sources said he was to be allotted only BMRDA but on coming to know about this, Mr George rushed to the CM’s residence and was closeted with him for two and a half hours.

Mr Siddaramaiah finally buckled and gave him full charge of Bengaluru Development. Dr Parameshwar gets Home, Vinay Kulkarni Mines and Geology, A. Manju Animal Husbandry and Sericulture while Excise has been allotted to Manohar Tahsildar. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra will be handling Higher Education too.

Faux pas in ministers’ list

In an embarrassment to the government, the list of portfolios says K.J. George still holds Home and T.B Jayachandra Animal Husbandry though the portfolio was given to A. Manju. What’s more surprising is that Dr Parameshwar is at fourth place when he should be at number 2

Bengaluru most positive city in APAC

We are living in the most “most positive” city in the Asia Pacific region. A recent survey conducted by Mastercard, released a day ahead of the World City Day – October 31, gives the thumbs up for the IT City. Over 9,000 people across 33 cities in 17 markets in the Asia-Pacific were surveyed for the index, which measures overall levels of well-being by examining people’s attitudes towards four components – work and finances, safety from threats, satisfaction and personal wellbeing.

The Index is calculated with zero as the most negative, 100 as most positive and 50 as neutral. Bengaluru (73.2) was the most positive, followed by Jakarta (72.1) and Delhi (71.7). The least positive was Dhaka (48.7) followed by Tokyo (52.1) and Busan (52.5).
