P&G to set up new unit in Telangana

KCR said that TS was the best state for them to invest and expand their activities

Hyderabad: Consumer goods major Procter & Gamble (P&G) has offered to set up a new unit in Telangana state, besides expanding the existing plant in Mahabubnagar. P&G India chief Al Rajwani met Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his camp office on Friday and offered to give 80 per cent jobs in P&G to TS locals. He sought the state government’s cooperation for company’s expansion plans.

Mr Rajwani informed CM about the company’s plans to establish a Planning Centre in TS to cater to the entire South Asia and sought the cooperation of the state government. He also discussed plans of expanding the existing unit at Penjarla village in Kottur mandal of Mahbubnagar district, which is spread over 171 acres.

He said the existing unit had 786 employees and they will soon increase the number to 1,200. In this, 80 per cent will be given only to TS locals. Mr Rajwani said another 50 highly skilled persons would be recruited for the Planning Centre and the number would be later increased to 100.

Responding to the request, Mr Rao said that TS was the best state for them to invest and expand their activities. He urged the company to expand their operations by using the best industrial policy unveiled by the government few months ago . He encouraged the company to them to grow and help TS grow.

Mr Rao suggested them to work in the area of government’s scheme of “KG to PG free education” as part of corporate social responsibility. P&G is a MNC with operation in 80 Countries and sale of its products in 150 countries. It has set up its fabric and home care, beauty care, oral care, baby care and feminine care unit at Penjerla.
