Paritala Sunitha warns of stern action
Anantapur: Civil supplies minister Paritala Sunitha threatened to seize the shops if they sell red gram at excess price. The minister had formally launched red gram selling centres in old town here on Friday following hea-vy prices in the open market.
The Anantapur Millers and Merchants Association had set up a counter near post office in old town. Wholesale traders to sell a kg at Rs 140 while retailers should not exceed Rs 143 on a kg of red gram, the minister said.
Ms Sunitha said the millers had come forward to offer red gram at affordable prices to all sections of people following heavy prices in the national market. Already the white card holders were being supplied red gram on subsidised prices of Rs 50-a-kg at FP shops. The minister said at least 32,000 quintals of red gram was procured since four months by investing Rs 280 crore to mitigate situation.
