She had taken treatment for liver disorder at the Royal Hospital Oman
Chennai: Five-year-old Pakistan girl Basma Mohammad Faisal, who had taken treatment for liver disorder at the Royal Hospital Oman, arrived here on Thursday night accompanied by her parents, for a liver transplant at the Global Health City here. She flew in a chartered flight and a medical support team from Royal Hospital Oman had accompanied the little girl to the city.
She was formally discharged on Wednesday afternoon to facilitate the transplant here and as her condition is critical a team of doctors and support staff flew with Basma to Chennai. She was taken to GHC in an ambulance after her arrival at the airport here.
Doctors attending on her said Basma’s condition was stable and the journey had not been taxing for her. “She can’t wait for cadaver. She has to undergo live liver transplant. Either one of her parents could be a donor,” a doctor from the hospital said. Her visit to Chennai has been possible due to the prompt intervention of external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.
