Let the bar probe continue: AK Antony

‘To quit on ethical ground is a personal choice’

KOZHIKODE: Senior Congress leader A.K. Antony has said that he would reserve his opinion on the Vigilance court’s order in the bar bribery case till the completion of the investigation.

“Let further investigation take place as said by the court. To quit the post on ethical ground is a personal choice. The UDF will meet and decide on the court order soon,” Mr Antony told a ‘meet-the-press’ programme organized by Kozhikode press club on Friday.

He reiterated that he was not into state politics. “My role in Kerala is over. The Oommen Chandy- led government deserves an A-plus grade. The UDF will retain power and the Congress will decide who will lead the next government,” he said.

He alleged that the beef issue was only the tip of the iceberg. “The beef ban is a slice of the bigger agenda of RSS to stifle the diversity of the country to polarise people and retain the vote bank,” he said.

“Prime Minister Modi should speak out. RSS workers are raiding the kitchens of houses in North India. Keralites there are living in fear,” he said. Mr Antony blamed the Left parties for indirectly helping the BJP.

“In Bihar, instead of joining us, the Left parties had formed a third front which would invariably split the votes in favour of the saffron party,” he said.

He accused the CPM of pursuing bomb politics in Kannur. “V.S. Achuthanandan supported Karayis’ candidature in Kannur. He did not speak anything against the bomb culture there and conveniently forgot T.P. Chandrasekharan who was the victim of the bomb politics,” Mr Antony said.
