Battle for Bihar: PM attacks Lalu Prasad Yadav on his home turf
Patna: While campaigning for the fourth phase of polling Prime Minister Narendra Modi mounted an attack on Nitish Kumar-led grand secular alliance saying that “leaders have crossed all decency while giving a statement against me”. Prime Minister addressing rallies in Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur on Friday accused Nitish Kumar for using “Bahari” (outsider) term for him only to gain in the ongoing assembly election in Bihar.
“Nitish babu says I am a bahri (outsider). I ask him how I can be a bahari in Bihar which is an integral part of India and even people of Bihar had voted to make me Prime Minister. Am I a Prime Minister of Pakistan or Bangladeshi? I want to ask him what he thinks of Sonia Gandhi who lives in Delhi. Is she a Bihari or Bahari”.
Urging people to vote in favor of NDA “for better future” he said “your love for me is prompting them to make indecent statement against me, but I am not hurt or concerned when I have your support”. Adding he said “Nitish Babu call me whatever you want but don’t hurt the sentiments of Biharis”.
Modi who greeted people in their local Bhojpuri dialect before he began his speech attacked Lalu Yadav in his home turf Gopalganj. He attacked the grand alliance over corruption listing over 30 alleged scams including fodder scam under RJD and JD(U) during last 25 years and asked voters to punish those who “looted” the state.
Meanwhile, two newspaper advertisements by the BJP in Bihar have been barred by the Election Commission, hours after leaders from the grand alliance complained to the election watchdog, accusing the BJP of promoting “lies and communal tension” in the state through its advertisements.
Nitish Kumar hits back at Modi
Attacked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the quota issue, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday hit back accusing Modi of brazenly using “divisive language” and warned he may “lose” India in his “desperation” to win the “losing battle” of Bihar.
“Astonished at Modiji's brazen use of divisive language. In his desperation to win the losing battle of Bihar, I am afraid he might lose India,” Kumar tweeted.
Though Kumar did not elaborate, his response came after Modi launched a stinging attack on him in his two rallies in Bihar on Friday.
