Land-grab, sales racket busted in Chandrayanagutta area
Hyderabad: A highly organised 11-member gang which cheated an associate professor and 15 others by indulging in land grabbing activities in Chandrayanagutta area was busted and four of its were members arrested by South Zone Police on Friday.
The gang used to cheat its victims by producing fabricated documents of open lands and then selling them off. Seven members of the gang are still at large.
South Zone DCP V. Satyanarayana said the members of the gang operated in three teams, each assigned with a special task. The first team identified open plots or half-constructed buildings in Chandrayanagutta and its surroundings. The other team prepared fabricated land documents of the selected lands and handed them over to the third team that would sell the land to the needy.
After selling the land to the victims, as and when the original owner of the land came forward claiming ownership, the gang would threaten him and drive him away.
“Three similar gangs are operating under the same style in Bahadurpura and Pahadishareef areas. We are trying to bust them also,” said Satyanarayana. “Twenty FIRs were registered against the gang and the land involved is valued around Rs 2 crore. We are verifying if government lands were also targeted by these men,” said the DCP.
