Just thirty minutes of gardening can keep you away from depression

Such activities were even found to reduce the risk of asthma and heart disease

A recent study claims that time spent in gardening can keep you in the best of health. Getting engaged on an allotment reduces depression, anxiety and aggressiveness. It also increases energy levels and improves overall mental health.

The authors from the Journal of Public Health have said that, “We found that less than 30 minutes of allotment gardening produces a measurable and beneficial health affect. This finding is encouraging as participants are more likely to be able to fit short, occasional allotment sessions into their daily routines.” The study also found that the health and well-being benefits of allotment gardening do not decline over time, according to a report published in the Daily Mail.

In another study carried out by scientists from Essex and Westminster universities, even a single session of working on an allotment resulted in an instant reduction in stress and fatigue among participants and also raised their self-esteem, vigour and a general feeling of good health. Such activities were even found to reduce the risk of asthma and heart disease.
