Flipkart to invest $2.5 billion in five years to strengthen logistics
Flipkart will invest $500 million to total its FC count in India to 100
Hyderabad: Flipkart on Friday announced an investment of $2.5 billion in five years to ramp us its logistics and warehouses network. Speaking on the sidelines of launch of Flipkart’s Fulfillment Centre in Hyderabad, the company’s co-founder and COO Binny Bansal said, “We’ll be investing a significant amount, approximately $2 billion in the next five years to ramp up logistics network.”
In line with this, it will invest $500 million to total its FC count in India to 100. Currently, it stands at 17 with most of them in Southern India. “South India has been our biggest market contributing to 40 per cent of our sales,” he added. It plans to have a Fulfi-llment Centre each in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kolkata and Assam.
