Racer trains cops to catch chain snatchers

Cops trained in unarmed combat, weapons
Hyderabad: Bike racer Mohammed Irfan popularly known as Iffu Rider is now training Cyberabad’s anti chain-snatching teams. The specially selected policemen are trained in unarmed close combat and fighting using weapons. Since two days they are being trained on Gandipet Roads on how to race on busy city roads and nab chain-snatchers.
Police commissioner C.V. Anand conceived the idea of setting up anti chain-snatching teams and giving them race training so that they can match bike borne chain-snatchers.
Mohammed Irfan, a 24-year-old racer from the I.K. Racing Team of Masab Tank says, “I trained the policemen on how to control the brakes, speed through lanes, dash fleeing snatchers and how to ride the bike so that they fall down and other techniques. For this the condition of bikes must be good.”
He added, “All chain-snatchers are trained in bike racing and they can ride well.”
All the policemen were earlier trained as commandos and they are armed with pistols. Cyberabad ACP B. Kistaiah said, “Training was given to 55 teams to intercept chain snatchers. They are already trained commandos and we are refreshing their skills. They are trained to defend themselves by using firearms if chain-snatchers attack them.”
