Congo student rams car into bike, injures two
He was driving under the influence of alcohol
Bengaluru: A 22-year-old Congo national student was arrested by Banaswadi traffic police for driving under the influence of alcohol and ramming his car into a bike critically injuring the two riders in Kalyan Nagar on Wednesday night. The arrested has been identified as Katunga, a BCA student of CMR Law College and a resident of Challakere in Banaswadi.
According to the police, the incident happened at about 11 pm when Katunga along with his friend who is also an African national were on their way after a party in Katunga’s Chevrolet Optra. When their car reached Kalyan Nagar service road, the inebriated driver rammed his car into a motorbike from behind injuring the two riders. The riders have been identified as Asif, 32 and Mishal Khan 22, residents of D J Halli and mechanics at a garage. Both the riders sustained fractures and were shifted to Specialty Hospital where they are said to be out of danger. As soon as the accident happened, public gathered at the spot, surrounded the two foreigners while they were trying to flee the spot and informed the police. The traffic police rushed to the spot and arrested the driver and seized the car.
A case has been registered at the Banaswadi traffic police station and further investigations are underway.
