He committed suicide by shooting himself with a self-loading rifle

Chennai: A CISF constable deployed at the Chennai airport committed suicide by shooting himself with a self-loading rifle (SLR) on his forehead in a bathroom of the international terminal Thursday afternoon. The deceased, a native of Assam, was identified as Pulak Rajbongshi, 27. The reason for his extreme action is not immediately known.
According to airport sources, the jawan, was supposed to report for duty in the afternoon. “He seems to have walked straight to the bathroom to kill himself from his barracks located near the old airport in Meenambakkam,” sources added.
CISF sources said that he had not left behind any suicide note. The bachelor was a member of a freshly recruited batch of CISF and was working in Chennai for the last three months. The victim’s engagement ceremony was held at his hometown two weeks back.
The police and CISF officials are examining his mobile phone details hoping to find out the reason for his extreme step. His mobile data and messages were deleted before he died, police said. “It is not clear if he had any issued with his superiors or if he was home sick or had any kind of relationship issues,” sources added. His body was immediately shifted to Chromepet GH for post-mortem.
