Dengue fighter Vivek’s son dies of acute dengue

The lad was brought in a “bad state” to the hospital
Chennai: The teenage son of popular actor Vivek, who had campaigned for free in a four-minute Dengue awareness campaign for the state health department, passed away on Thursday evening following a “severe brain system dysfunction and acute dengue.”
Prasanna Kumar, 13, had been battling for his life with fever and his end came at 4.25 pm Thursday. “Mr. Vivek was inconsolable. We had no words to console him. it was so tragic,” a source at the private hospital where the boy succumbed to the fever, said.
The lad was brought in a “bad state” to the hospital and the doctors tried to stabilise him. The efforts to save Prasanna, who was in the hospital for nearly a month, were to no avail. His sudden demise has come as a rude shock to his family members. He is survived by father Vivek, mother Arulselvi and sisters Amritha Nandini and Tejaswini.
A galaxy of actors and actress who condoled his untimely death said Prasanna Vivek was a very good keyboard player. His interest was in music. “He was snatched away too soon..#RIP Prasanna..u will stay in r hearts 4evr. .. Nothing can ever compensate the loss of a child to the parents..no words will ever be soothing enough to take away the pain..the vacuum remains,” were the messages that the actors tweeted.
“He is suspected to have died due to meningitis. Initial reports indicate that he died due to brain fever. We are yet to get the report,” said Dr. K. Kulandaisamy, Director of Public Health, when contacted. “Whatever be the cause, his passing away is painful. Actors Vivek, Sivakumar and Karthik have another face – a positive and social face that many don’t know. They had cast for free in our Dengue awareness campaigns,” he said.
